Situated in Thassos' southeastern region between Aliki and the Monastery of Archangel Michael, Thimonia Beach is approximately 32 km from Limenas and 16 km from Potos. It offers a scenic hour's drive from the island's capital showcasing picturesque views along the way.
Thimonia Beach on Thassos island, named after the ancient site of Thimonia, is a serene, less-visited location with pebbles, rocks, and crystalline waters ideal for swimmers and fishing enthusiasts. Although not organized, it’s cherished by families with small children for its tranquility and uncrowded nature.
In the summer, Thimonia Hotel lying on the beachfront, provides sunbeds and umbrellas for its guests and features a bar, while the neighboring bay offers a seaside taverna. But you could choose to come prepared for a whole day at the sea with your family, and enjoy the sun and serene atmosphere.
Besides the beach itself, Thimonia boasts an ancient circular tower; a rocky reminder of the island’s past, with olive trees gently shading the remains. Even though its existence remains a mystery today, it is worth your visit just to enjoy the view and tranquility of this place. Nestled in a bay 1.5 km past Giola, it's a mere 500m on foot up the gravel path leading directly to the tower. Near Thimonia, you will find many places to spend the night and a supermarket in Aliki.
