Skala Maries Beach, also known as Limanaki, is a charming spot in the small resort of Skala Marion on the southwestern coast of Thassos. Formerly a fishing port for the old mountainous village of Maries, it has recently become known to tourists. The coastline forms three coves, with houses built around them side by side and above the sea. Skala Maries Beach is central in the village, surrounded by taverns serving fresh fish cooked with local, traditional food recipes.
The other two beaches you can enjoy in Skala Marion are Atspas and Platanes Beach. Platanes is the largest bay at the entrance of the village, featuring fine sand. Moving uphill, you will find the third bay, Atspas Beach, known for its fabulously shallow waters and sandy shore, providing a serene beach day experience.
Limenaria, the island’s second-largest town, is conveniently located just 8 km away, providing everything you might need. Essential amenities such as small supermarkets, small shops, and a pharmacy are also available in the village of Skala Maries. Accommodation near the beach ranges from small hotels and rental studios to luxurious villas, meeting every need and preference.
