Platanes Beach is a lovely beach on the west coast of Thassos, about 7km from Limenaria, and known for its wide sandy expanse and strips of stones at the water's edge. It's the largest of the three beaches of Skala Marion, often referred to as Sunset Beach due to its stunning evening views and a namesake beach bar. Note that Plаtana Beach, on the north coast near Skala Rachoni, is different from Platanes.
Platanes attracts various visitors, from solo travelers and relaxation seekers to families and seniors, becoming partially crowded in high season. The beach features smooth sand with tiny pebbles, sunbeds, a small water park, and a volleyball net, and is adjacent to a fishing boat pier. Visitors can enjoy water activities, sunbathing, and the security of a lifeguard during the season, with amenities like free parking and WiFi.
Near Platanes Beach, a Greek tavern offers food, drinks, and music within just a 3-minute walk from the beach. Other beautiful beaches are accessible within a 5 km radius, including the notable Tripiti Beach and Atspas Beach, surrounded by mountains and trees and known for its calm waters and snorkeling opportunities.
Reaching Platanes beach is straightforward since it is located just off the main coastal road. Simply follow the directional signs to Skala Marion, and you will soon find yourself in close proximity to the beach.
