Aliki Beach in Thassos is actually a peninsula with two bays with the same name: Aliki! The one has emerald waters, sunbeds, and amenities, while the other is quieter. Nearby is an archaeological site and underwater ruins of a marble quarry. Aliki is 32 kilometers from Limenas Thassos and 45 kilometers from the port in Skala Prinos. Both bays have calm and transparent waters, making them an ideal spot for snorkeling and swimming.
Some visitors might find one of the beaches (the west one) crowded and commercialized. A recommended strategy for a more peaceful experience is to visit in the late afternoon and relax on the cliffs with a foldable chair. You should also avoid visiting Aliki Beach on weekends during July and August if you seek serenity on your vacations. But, if being among many people is your type of relaxation, then you have nothing to worry about. Just try to arrive early to find available sunbeds.
Nearby mini-markets and kiosks offer refreshments for those who won’t be able to find available sunbeds or don’t want to rent one. You can also explore the eastern bay, which is equally stunning but quieter, and you will find a spot for your own umbrella. This bay has some rocky edges, a sandy beach, and crystal clear waters, enhancing its scenic beauty. The surrounding area offers many food options at traditional fish taverns and many accommodation providers. There are parking spots for those staying at nearby hotels, but most people park at the sideroad.
While in Thassos, you should definitely visit Aliki, especially for the archeological treasures and its rich ancient history. You can dive into emerald waters and explore Thassos’s glorious past at the same time.
