The village of Theologos is located in the southeastern part of Thassos, at an altitude of 240 meters, and is a designated traditional settlement that preserves its historical identity. It's 50 kilometers away from Limenas of Thassos and just 10 km from Potos. The village has significant historical importance, with roots dating back to the 8th century BC. It seems that the first residents in the area were Paros colonists, while the earliest recorded mentions of the settlement trace back to the 13th century. During the piracy era, Theologos flourished and became an administrative center. In 1287, Byzantine Emperor Andronikos II Palaiologos mentioned that there was a “metochi” (a kind of estate) in the area dedicated to John the Evangelist. During the Ottoman rule, the Turks settled in the village, developing it further. In 1813, the area was handed over to Mehmet Ali Pasha of Egypt, granting the village significant autonomy. Hatjiyorgis, the village's chieftain, played a pioneering role in the revolutionary movement against the Turks. The liberation of the area finally occurred in 1912. According to the 2011 census, the village had 636 permanent residents. Today, however, the number seems to be more than 800. In the summer, locals earn their living from tourism, while in winter, they mainly engage in agriculture and livestock farming. At the Folklore Museum in Theologos, you can get a taste of the village's past. Potamia is a village on Thassos, located on the hills of the Mountain Ipsario, just 10 kilometers away from Limenas Thassos. It’s near the eastern coasts of the island and very close to some of the most popular beaches, such as Golden Beach (4 kilometers away), Vathi Beach (10 kilometers away), and Makriammos Beach (11 kilometers away). Those arriving on the island from Kavala and disembarking at Skala Prinos will need to travel 24 kilometers to the east to find the village. To get to Potamia, one must choose between the three transportation options available on the island: renting a vehicle, taking a taxi, or using the KTEL buses. Those who opt for the bus should check the schedule as soon as they arrive (and for the entirety of their stay), as national, religious, or local holidays might affect the timetable. However, from Limenas, there are several bus routes throughout the day, from 7:30 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon. The name Potamia is attributed to the river that flows through the village and the small streams formed around it due to the significant amount of rainfall it receives throughout the year (Potamia in Greek means river). Although it’s a mountain village, Potamia has 1,200 permanent residents and is worth visiting year-round. It’s an ideal destination for those who love hiking, carnivals, and winter excursions. Beyond its beautiful architecture with its lovely stone houses, in Potamia, you can also admire the works of the renowned sculptor Polygnotos Vagis at the museum bearing his name, housed in the old stone school building. Polygnotos Vagis achieved widespread recognition in the United States, and many of his works are now displayed in his beloved hometown, Potamia Thassos. Another beautiful point of interest you don’t want to miss is the church of Saint Dimitrios, built in 1845. Potamia is a vibrant village that doesn’t fall short when compared to Thassos' coastal areas or its namesake, Skala Potamia, located just 3 kilometers away. There, you’ll find the beach with the same name, known for its shallow turquoise waters attracting numerous visitors yearly. Potamia offers taverns, cafes, businesses selling local products, and various accommodation options, making it a delightful alternative for summer vacations. Additionally, the village is widely prevalent among hiking enthusiasts, as it offers various trails suitable for both beginners and very experienced hikers. A popular path begins in Potamia and ends at the summit of Prophet Elias. Another more challenging and higher-altitude trail starts in Potamia and reaches the summit of Ipsario, where you’ll find the refuge belonging to the Hiking Association of Thassos, approachable by car. Of course, there are other shorter trails, like the one leading to the village of Panagia, which only takes about 50 minutes. In Potamia, the carnival tradition is highly cherished. Preparations for the carnival parade begin several months before the festivities, which escalate on the last Sunday before Clean Monday and the beginning of the Lenten season. The locals are known for their sarcastic humor, evident in their daily conversations and the costumes they choose for the carnival. These outfits typically offer snarky commentary on the local and national political scene. The Potamia Carnival Association organizes the parade passionately and promotes the event with videos and posters. During the celebration, the streets are filled with free red wine for all participants and spectators. It’s certainly an event worth experiencing if you’re in Thassos. The village fair (panigiri) in Potamia is also a traditional event of great significance and takes place on the first Friday after Easter in honor of Zoodochos Pigi. Another local custom worth witnessing up close is the revival of the “Anavrochiari,” organized annually on July 31st by the Cultural Association Polygnotos Vagis. An association member or a village resident covers themselves from head to toe in leaves and roams the village streets. People drench the leaf-covered person with water from their balconies to ward off the damaging summer droughts that can harm the crops. Visiting the village of Potamia in Thassos, you will experience unique cultural events and deeply rooted customs. Panagia in Thassos, a stunning traditional mountain village, is situated east of Ipsarion Mountain at an altitude of about 300 meters in the northeastern part of the island. It's only 8 kilometers away from the island's capital, Limenas. Thanks to its ideal location, the village is easily accessible and very popular among visitors. Near Panagia in Thassos, you'll find Skala Potamia and Skala Panagia, where you'll have a plethora of options for accommodation, dining, and nightlife. The village holds a history of at least 300 years, when the residents of the area, fearing piracy, abandoned the coasts and took refuge in the mountains. The village was initially named "Anastasio," but the name "Panagia" prevailed, thanks to the village's church, which is, of course, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Despite the difficulties, the settlement evolved rapidly. In 1858, when the fear of pirates was a thing of the past, Panagia already had 600 homes and, together with Theologos, it was one of the two largest villages in Thassos. After the revolution of 1821, Panagia became the capital of Thassos, replacing Theologos, which was a little inconvenient as a location due to its considerable distance from the sea. Trade transactions with the opposite coast of Kavala developed in the village. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of all this is that Panagia even acquired its own currency, the so-called “bakires”, which you can see in the village church, where they are preserved as relics of the village’s bright past. In the village, people would either walk or use donkeys to get around at that time. As a result, roads and cobblestone paths are so narrow for a modern car. The transportation of today made it necessary to construct a larger road around the settlement in order to preserve the traditional character of the village, but also to facilitate movements and visits. In Panagia, there are currently about 900 residents, according to the most recent demographic data. This number may seem small compared to large cities, but it is quite significant for a mountain village in Thassos. Locals enjoy a peaceful traditional life and are in close touch with nature and the history of their place. While the number of people living in the village stays about the same all year, lots more people visit in the summer to enjoy its beauty and friendly atmosphere. The architecture of the village certainly takes you back to another era. Both the terrain's morphology and the preservation of the village’s traditional style play a role in that since houses are built with "sachnisia" (a Greek traditional building technique) and traditionally built balconies. Walking along the narrow cobblestone streets, the doll-like houses with slate roofs and small wooden balconies make up a fairy-tale stroll between the past and the present. Beautiful manor houses, built in the late last century and the beginning of this current one, adorn the village while preserving folk tradition. In 1978, the village of Panagia was designated a traditional settlement, and building standards protect its traditional character up until today. The buildings of the village are certainly landmarks of Panagia Thassos. The fountains, the natural stream that crosses the village, and the green slopes of Ypsario Mountain are ideal for relaxation and hiking in nature. On such a route, you can taste the cool water from the mountain springs and rest under the shade of the towering plane tree. Green canals crisscross the village, creating a dreamlike image, while the numerous fountains offer a naturally cooling breeze. Drakotrypa is another nearby hiking route with a duration of about 15 minutes, through a magical path with pines, plane trees, and wild vegetation. It ends up in a cave with stalactites and stalagmites and has not yet been fully explored. The view to the mountains, the plain, and the fields are equally impressive, while the natural landscape exudes serenity and harmony. Regarding gastronomy, the village offers a variety of choices. Taverns in the village center serve delicious meat dishes and local flavors, while the village's coffee shops also offer the opportunity to taste local tsipouro and wine, interact with the locals, and enjoy their hospitality. Just 4 kilometers away from Panagia, you will find Golden Beach at Skala Panagia, one of the most impressive beaches on the island. This beach, which once served as the village's port, is now a resort center with a multitude of hotels and a municipal camping area. This place is great for visitors. Its golden beach sparkles when the sun is at its highest, and the bright blue beach waters are crystal clear. It's the perfect spot to relax and have fun. Religious tourism also thrives in Panagia, as there are several churches worth visiting since they form the village's religious and cultural heritage. Elements of the village's history, tradition, and the lifestyle of its inhabitants are evident in its architecture and decor. The village's main church is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and is characterized by its grandeur and excellent architecture. The impressive wood-carved iconostasis of exquisite Volos craftsmanship is simply iconic. Apart from the main church, there are 11 other churches from the 19th century, including the churches of Saint Athanasios, Saint Charalambos, the Theologian, Saint George, Saints Constantine and Helen, Saint John, and Saint Panteleimon. All these churches are characterized by their traditional architecture and simple lines. The village of Panagia on Thassos Island is renowned for its events and festivities. The festival on August 15th is particularly noteworthy when the village celebrates alongside the Virgin Mary. Among the traditions of this day is the "kourbani", a traditional dish of meat and wheat, shared after the religious ceremony. Also, on Clean Monday, the village takes on a symbolic form with a rich carnival celebration that includes a float parade, carnival costumes, and a satirical representation of current events and the entire Greek political scene. Finally, on the eve of November 1st, All Saints' Day, the village again prepares "kourbani" and celebrates both known and unknown Saints. All these elements constitute a rich social culture expressed through the village's traditional events and festivals. Panagia is beautiful throughout the year, but it truly shines in summer, as it harmoniously combines the beautiful sea with the greenery of the mountains. It is a village that will embrace every traveler. Kazaviti is one of Thassos's most authentic mountain villages, located at an altitude of 350 meters. In fact, Kazaviti is actually a combination of two villages named Small Prinos (or Small Kazaviti) and Big Prinos (or Big Kazaviti). These two settlements are often considered as one since they're only 500 meters apart, and you can easily walk between them. Kazaviti's location is 20 kilometers from the island's capital, 7 kilometers from Skala Prinos (where the ships from Kavala arrive), and 4 kilometers from the village of Prinos. From Limenas Thassos, regular bus services run to Skala Prinos from 6 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon. Additionally, a bus route tours the island via Prinos, departing from Limenas at 2:50 pm. Kazaviti owes its name to the combination of two Latin words: Casa (House) and Vitis (vine - vineyard), signifying "The House of Wine." Alternatively, locals refer to it as "Tsiggoura." As indicated by its Latin-derived name, the village is renowned for its vineyards and quality wine. Notably, historical records confirm the production of wine in this area as far back as the 4th century B.C. Kazaviti, at its current form, was founded in the 16th century A.D. by inhabitants seeking refuge in the mountains, away from the pirate raids that plagued the island's shores. Some buildings bear inscriptions of the year they were constructed, with the oldest surviving ones dating back to the early 19th century (1806-1807). The two villages experienced significant growth, and up until the 1950s, there was even an operational school. In 1978, the village was designated as a protected "traditional settlement," and any new building constructed must adhere to certain traditional features. In the 1980s, Megalo Kazaviti was abandoned entirely, while only a few residents remained in Mikro Kazaviti. Today, the villages have about 40 permanent residents, according to the most recent census data. In recent years, many travelers have visited Kazaviti on their vacations as it stands as a masterpiece of traditional Thassian architecture. Moreover, it combines the stunning natural landscape with absolute relaxation. Many homeowners have renovated several buildings in the area, using them as their vacation homes. Even though during summer Megalo Kazaviti comes to life, and the tavern at Platana Square fills with people, the rest of the year passes more quietly. The region is famous for its meat and wine, which you must try when you visit Kazaviti. The nature surrounding Kazaviti is breathtaking, making it a favorite destination for nature enthusiasts who love hiking in the mountainous villages of Greece. Nestled amidst lush green trees, the two villages reveal the magical coexistence of humans with the environment, while the villages' buildings harmoniously blend with the landscape as they cascade amphitheatrically on the mountain slope. For those who love both the sea and the mountains, Kazaviti can offer both, as it is only 6-7 kilometers away from the sea, a distance easily covered by car. One of the most beautiful coastal locations is the lush Dasyllio of Skala Prinou, which hosts municipal camping facilities. Near Mikro Kazaviti lies the Monastery of Saint Panteleimon, a women's monastery built in 1987. The miraculous icon of the Saint was found at this site, and the monastery's church was built in 1843. Every summer, on July 27th, during the celebration of the Saint, the monastery's festival (panigiri) takes place, an event worth visiting for those who love tradition or come to the island for religious tourism. Another local panigiri is that of Saint George in Mikro Kazaviti during the Easter period. Southeast from the center in Megalo Kazaviti, you'll come upon the village's old church, built in the 19th century and dedicated to the Twelve Apostles. It is surrounded by a walled courtyard and is known for its rare beauty. On the north side, a colonnade leads to a small chapel, a feature found in many churches on Thassos. Inside the church, you can admire hagiographies and preserved frescoes. It is a mesmerizing and moving monument, highlighting the area's high level of religious art and tradition. On June 30th, the church's panigiri dedicated to the Holy Apostles takes place. Kazaviti is worth visiting for many reasons. Whether you're a fan of tradition, authentic natural beauty, or simply love good food and excursions, these two tiny villages will provide a complete experience. If you attend one of Kazaviti's panigiria, try the traditional "kloubani," a dish with meat and orzo paired with local wine.

Kastro, a small mountain village of Thassos, is a testament to the island’s rich history and stunning natural landscapes. To access the historic settlement of Kastro, located at an altitude of 500 meters, travelers can follow two main routes: For those who prefer to drive, a bumpy road awaits them, mostly suitable for 4x4 vehicles. These roads begin from Limenaria or Theologos, demand careful driving, and last 35 minutes more or less. For those seeking a more immersive experience, a breathtaking hiking trail provides a deeper connection to the island’s nature. Once a medieval fortress, Kastro provided refuge to inhabitants against pirate raids. Today, the remnants of its ancient stone walls and structures stand as silent witnesses to the island’s past. Surrounded by pine forests but standing on a rocky top, Kastro offers a panoramic view of the sea. This old little village invites not only history enthusiasts but also nature lovers who come to explore this serene landscape. Since the 1960s, Kastro has undergone significant transformations. Many of its buildings have been rebuilt or restored, reviving the village’s historic charm and Thassian architectural tradition. Despite those restoration efforts, Kastro remains uninhabited, with almost zero permanent residents. The tranquility is evident, giving the village a unique, almost mystical, aura. However, as the summer sun warms its stony roofs, Kastro witnesses a resurgence of life. Descendants, property owners, travelers, and other visitors are drawn to Kastro’s raw grace, spending their summers reconnecting with its history, culture, and the memories it holds. The village’s name, “Kastro,” originates in the remnants of a fortress that once stood on the site (Kastro in Greek means castle or fortress) while Thassos was under the control of Genoese Dorino I Gattilusio. Taking advantage of the village’s strategic mountaintop location, he ordered the construction of the fort, laying down the architectural foundation for Kastro. As time passed by, Kastro witnessed significant changes in its demographics. The village faced periods of desertion as the original inhabitants migrated in search of better work opportunities. Drawn to the coastal places once more after the pirate exploitation was over, many villagers from Kastro and other mountainous villages, like Kazaviti and Rachoni, shifted their occupation to farming. Additionally, better wages led others to the mines near Limenaria and the mining company Speidel. This shift in employment offered a more prosperous lifestyle compared to the limited means available in their ancestral village of Kastro. In the heart of the village stands its very pulse: the Church of “Agios Athanasios.” Every 17th & 18th January, this otherwise tranquil village extraordinarily stirs to life. Marking the name day of the Saint (18th of January) and the church that carries this name, Kastro invites faithful residents and visitors from all corners of Thassos.  They gather here to celebrate a time-honored tradition: Guests are warmly welcomed into the village’s homes, fostering a deep sense of community. Accompanied by songs and joy, they toast to the blessings of Saint Athanasios, keeping the spirit of celebration alive throughout the night. In 1804, this church was constructed in forty days, an achievement made possible by the united efforts of the entire village community. This sacred structure's foundations and walls are part of the village’s history, as stones from the medieval castle’s ruins were repurposed for its construction. Recognizing its historical and architectural significance, the church was designated as a historical monument in 1980, standing proudly as one of the oldest churches in Thassos. If you find yourself on the sapphire island of the North Aegean, pay a visit to this magnificent place. Maries is a mountainous village situated almost in the center of Thassos, slightly to the west. It is in a stunningly beautiful location, 40 kilometers from Limenas Thassos and 27 kilometers from Skala Prinou. Maries stands at an altitude of 200 meters, which is also the number of permanent residents living there today.  To reach the village, you'll need a vehicle, whether your own or a rental, or you can take a taxi. However, there are also bus services, but it's better to check the schedule upon arriving on the island, as they don't run frequently and typically operate only in the morning and early afternoon hours. The village's name often piques visitors' curiosity, who frequently ask about its origins. According to locals, there are three possible explanations: The first suggests that the village had many women named Maria, while the second that two women named Maria were the only survivors of a pirate raid. The third theory is related to a variation of the word "mouries," referring to a type of tree abundant in the area. In this village, it feels as though time has stood still. Its location, tucked deep within the island's interior, has shielded it from tourist development, allowing it to retain its traditional characteristics. Of course, you still have plenty of reasons to visit.  When arriving in Maries, one can admire the unique architecture of Thassos's mountain villages and taste authentic traditional Thassian cuisine, such as the roasted goat dish served in local taverns. If you come on August 15th, you'll witness the celebration of the Monastery of the Dormition of the Theotokos. There is a church that was built in 1813 and houses a miraculous hagiography of the Virgin Mary. The monastery is located between Maries and Skala Maries. Additionally, another point of interest for visitors interested in religious tourism is the village's church dedicated to the Synaxis of the Archangels, built in 1800. Every September, a bean soup festival featuring local wine, music, and dance takes place in the church's courtyard. The beautiful Orthodox Christian architecture and the unique atmosphere accompanying them make the churches of Thassos a destination appreciated by all kinds of visitors, whether they've come for religious or general tourism. The village's natural beauty is monumental, and, like Potamia, it offers hiking trails for nature lovers. Near Maries lies the island's only lake, which, although artificial, is surrounded by rich vegetation and is worth visiting. Furthermore, the area has three waterfalls, with one being rather hard to access. There's also a specially designed recreation area with benches to relax and enjoy a picnic. However, swimming, fishing, and lighting fires are prohibited, as the site is densely forested with pine trees. Near Maries, you'll find Skala Maries Beach, Atspas Beach, and Platana Beach, which you can easily visit. Most of the island's visitors prefer to stay in the coastal villages and take trips to the mountainous areas of Thassos, as there are more options for hotels and rooms to let. In the past, there were few to no alternative accommodation solutions in most mountain villages, but now infrastructures are being developed to cater to visitors who prefer to stay in the mountains and visit the beach rather than the other way around.

Prinos in Thassos is one of the island's largest villages, located 16 kilometers west of Limenas. You'll come across Prinos before reaching Limenaria when starting your road trip from Limenas. It's also just 4 kilometers away from Skala Prinos. Set amphitheatrically atop a hill, this picturesque village boasts breathtaking views of the valley that stretches towards Kazaviti. According to the 2011 census, the settlement has 1,885 permanent residents. With a well-organized Health Center, which operates efficiently thanks to the locals and its medics, Prinos guarantees medical care for all visitors. To visit Prinos, you can board a boat that departs daily from Kavala. If you're already on the island, you can take a bus from Limenas, Limenaria, or Potos, get a taxi, or rent a car. Using the island's main road, the journey is only 20 minutes from Limenas. In Prinos of Thassos, beyond tourism, locals also engage in farming. The region is rich with olive trees, many of which have graced the island for over a century. The rich Mediterranean nature inspires visitors to hike and do various outdoor activities throughout the year. Local cultural groups and parent groups are very active in the village, contributing to the enhancement of the area's cultural events. Furthermore, Prinos boasts a well-stocked library and offers classes in painting, chess, and traditional and contemporary dance. The entire area of Rachoni extends to the northern part of the island and consists of four settlements - two mountainous, Rachoni and Agios Georgios, and two coastal, Skala Rachoni and the area of Pachis, near the cape sharing the same name. Rachoni is literally perched on the ridge of Mount. Ipsario, from which it has actually taken its name (Rachoni in Greek means “Village on the ridge”). Once a hub for ore mining, this town has since evolved into one of Thassos’s prime tourist destinations, offering visitors a unique blend of traditional Greek cuisine and many leisure activities. To get to Limenaria Thassos, travelers have various transportation options tailored to different preferences and budgets. One of the most practical ways is by car. After docking at Limenas Thassos, visitors can rent a car, and from there, a 45-minute drive leads directly to Limenaria. On the other hand, if your ferryboat arrives at Skala Prinos, the distance is smaller, just a 30-minute drive. Alternatively, for those not keen on driving, taxis are available all over the island and provide direct routes to Limenaria from any village or beach. This option may be expensive, depending on the distance involved.  The bus (KTEL) is more budget-conscious, and the central bus station is located in Limenas Thassos. Bus routes from Limenas, Potos, and Theologos to Limenaria start around 6.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m., except for the last one from Theologos to Limenaria, which starts around 2.00 p.m. In the early 20th century, the emerging town of Limenaria transformed when the German company, “Speidel,” started its mining operations on the rich reserves of cadmium and zinc. This mining boom attracted workers from the mountainous village of Kastro, seeking better fortunes.  Additionally, the Treaty of Lausanne brought Greek refugees from Asia Minor, infusing Limenaria with their culture and history. They established Kalivia, a small settlement, which now is not easily distinguished from Limenaria because the two villages merged. The word Kalivia originates from the Greek word “καλύβα” which means “hut.” Hence, its name is actually “the village with the huts.” On Limenaria’s eastern cliff, Palataki (Little Palace), a symbol of the mining industry in Limenaria built in 1903, served as the headquarters for the “Speidel” company and managed the local quarry. Astrida used to be a rural settlement for people from the mountainous village of Theologos who journeyed to Astris every night on foot with donkeys under the guidance of the starry sky twinkling above to work in agriculture and take care of their livestock. The first houses were made of stone, a testament to the craftsmanship of the villagers of Theologos. Today, the village has become a beautiful attraction with all that is needed to spend quality time next to the most beautiful beaches on the island. At the village’s entrance from the west, you can find the famous beach of Psili Ammos, which means “thin sand.” It has clean, shallow turquoise waters, perfect for small children to play, and it is also a popular sea destination for young people living in Potos. Aliki (or Alyki) settlement is located 31 kilometers south of Limenas Thassos and 45 kilometers southeast of Skala Prinos for those traveling from Kavala. It's a popular site in Thassos, known for its unique natural beauty and the archaeological significance of the area. To get to Aliki, you can drive 40-50 minutes from Limenas or Skala Prinos (rental cars) are available in both major ports on the island) or take a taxi or a bus (KTEL) if you travel on a budget. Aliki is a rocky peninsula in southern Thassos full of trees that reach the sea. Two bays form beautiful beaches with calm waters, which is why it's often referred to in the plural as "Alikes" (or Alikes). The area has been inhabited since the 7th century BC and, for a millennium up to the 7th century AD, saw significant economic growth due to the exports of white Thassian marble. Aliki was part of the Roman and Byzantine empires and thriving until it was suddenly abandoned, most likely due to the appearance of pirates that plagued the island's coastlines. The archaeological site of Aliki includes the remnants of an ancient quarry, which lies partially submerged in the island's crystal-clear turquoise waters, offering visitors a memorable ''dive into the past." Additionally, visitors can see traces of ancient temples dedicated to the Dioscuri and the god Apollo, who protected the sailors. There are also remnants of two old churches (basilicas) that were constructed using materials from the ancient temples. The village is located on the island's southwest coast, close to Limenaria and the Tripiti Beach, and it's only 16 kilometers away from the port of Skala Prinou. The local population amounts to 400 residents, according to the most recent data. Reaching Skala Marion from Limenas Thassos takes a 40-minute drive, as the distance is 31.5 kilometers. From Skala Prinou, you can drive south for 20 minutes to reach the village. The KTEL buses run frequent routes from and to the two main ports, as the village is on the way to Limenaria, the second-largest town of Thassos. What's admirable about the village is its urban planning. The houses are built right next to each other, amphitheatrically overlooking Skala Marion's beach, and all face the sea. The fact that they are constructed almost adjacent to one another is due to pirate raids. Connected houses provided better protection for the residents and their possessions. The unique architecture is the second thing one notices upon arriving in Skala Marion. In old buildings, details on the ceilings and ornaments on the balconies are preserved to this day, indicative of wealth and prosperity. Until 1926, the area's connection to Mount Athos was very close, and three dependencies (metochia) operated: the metochi of the Monastery of Karakallou, that of the Monastery of Stavronikita, and the metochi of the Monastery of Xeropotamou. Like most fishing villages in Thassos, Skala Marion is known for its food. Small taverns with seating by the harbor offer well-cooked seafood, fresh fish of the day, and traditional Thassian recipes. On the other hand, if you're arriving from Kavala to Skala Prinos and want to stay somewhere close to the port, Skala Rachoni is just a 5-10 minute drive away (4.5 kilometers). For those who don't drive, prefer public transportation for environmental reasons, or are traveling on a budget, Skala Rachoni is the perfect option due to its excellent transportation options.
